Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Personal or Private Chef?
A Private or Personal Chef is a culinary professional who personalises and creates tailored meals for their clients in the comfort of their own home or holiday rental.
How does this work?
After a first contact via email, we will discuss over phone, email or in person, your preferences and dietary requirements.
If at all possible, we visit the location of the booked service, for a brief inspection of the kitchen and check which tools or equipment may be needed and whether it will be necessary to have a kitchen assistant.
On the day of the dinner, class or event, we will arrive to your home or villa with all necessary shopping, equipment in order to prepare the experience.
How much does it Cost and what is Included?
This will depend on your chosen experience and your personal wishes. Our services range from special dinners or lunches, cooking classes and much more (please see our Services page).
Our prices will vary depending on the ingredients, guest count and the type of preparation preferred. We can also tailor an experience based on your preferred budget. The preparation, delivery and supplies will be included.
I will provide the necessary ingredients and drinks that we will agree upon together beforehand, we can also offer some suggestions for any wine pairing and other beverages.
Upon request, we are proud and more than happy to illustrate to you and your guests the products used, their origins and even the health benefits.
At the end of the service, the kitchen will be cleaned and tidied up. Any leftovers will be properly sealed and stored in your fridge and I will instruct you on how you can enjoy them later or whenever you want.
I’m a Vegan, can I still enjoy your food?
Yes! Our menus are 100% personalised for you and we can accommodate for all dietary requirements and/or allergies, from gluten-free options, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, diabetic and more.
What’s the difference between a Private Chef and a Caterer?
The difference lies in the type of service and the overall experience. A personal chef will prepare and create in your home or at your location, onsite. A caterer will often bring everything pre-made.
The delicious smells during preparation will only heighten the excitement for the meal!
What if I don’t have all the right Kitchen Equipment?
Not to worry! I can bring my own equipment, including pans and utensils, we can chat about what will be needed prior to the day.
We can also bring tableware, chairs and more if necessary–including tableware in terracotta, typical of the local tradition. Just let us know your needs and we will accommodate.
Do I need to buy all the Ingredients?
No, we can take care of this as part of the service and bring all on-site to you. Regular pantry items such as salt, for example, can even be brought if they are not to hand.
We can evaluate everything together beforehand so we can be prepared in the best possible way.
My kitchen is tiny! Can I still Book an Experience?
Absolutely. In order to prepare, the important things are the presence of a fridge, oven, stove, some clean counter space and an area where I can keep the supplies and equipment.
Cooking classes will allow more table space, if this is not present at your location it is possible to rent the tables to have the space needed.
